Abstract: The plant Oxytropis ochrocephala Bunge, widely distributed in western China,is a common poisonous plant found in the western grassland of China. It is rich in biological resources and has the potential of resource development and utilization. In nearly 40 years, nearly 300 compounds identified from O. ochrocephala, consisting of alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoid saponins and other chemicals. Some of these compounds exhibited a broad array of pharmacological activities, such as antitumor, antiviral, insecticidal and antibacterial properties. In this paper, the chemical constituents and bioactivities of O. ochrocephala were reviewed, which could provide the basis for the further development and utilization of O. ochrocephala Bunge.

Key words: Oxytropis ochrocephala Bunge, poisonous plant, chemical constituents, bioactivity, alkaloid
