Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of Cornus officinalis on renal interstitial fibrosis and its mechanism.Thirty-six 5-week-old male SD rats with similar body weight were randomly divided into sham group (S group),model group (U group) and C.officinalis (300 mg/Kg) in the intervention group (group D).Six SD rats from each of the three groups were sacrificed respectively at the first 7 days and the first 14 days.Pathological changes of renal interstitial renal fibrosis and YKL-40,β-catenin,Wnt4 protein were observed. The results showed that among D group at each time point tubulointerstitial damage index, renal interstitial fibrosis index,YKL-40,β-catenin were lower than that in U group at the same period, and the indicators in D14 group were all higher than that in D7 group (P<0.05).While Wnt4 and β-catenin,YKL-40 protein expression in group D was significantly decreased compared with the U group (P<0.05).It showed that C.officinalis had a protective effect on kidney.
