Preparation of Anisaldehyde from Ozonolysis of Anethole in Water and Ethyl Acetate

摘要: At room temperature, anisaldehyde (4-methoxybenzaldehyde) was synthesized by the ozonolysis of anethole (1-methoxy-4-(1-propenyl)-benzene) in a solvent system composed of water and ethyl acetate. The yield of anisaldehyde from this solvent system was compared with those from the traditional solvent systems. Meanwhile, the solvent quantity, O3/O2 flow rate, water content in the mixture solvent and the reaction time which could effect on the reaction were investigated. By FTIR and UV spectrum, the reaction mechanism was investigated. In the presence of water, anethole was ozonolysed to anisaldehyde at room temperature in 100 min with a yield of 81.7%. The pure product was obtained without further isolation.
