Abstract: Osmundae Rhizoma (Ziqiguanzhong) is the rhizome of Osmunda japonica (Osmundaceae). Six compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Osmundae rhizoma by column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis and identified as 1,7,9,11-tetrahydroxy-3-methyl-5,6-dihydrobenzo [a] tetracene-8,13-dione (1), (E)-3,4-Dihydroxybenzalacetone (2), protocatechuic acid (3), β-sitosterol (4), β-daucosterol (5), and hexacosoic acid (6). Compound 1 was isolated from plantae for the first time.
