Abstract: Seven compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS and semi-preparative HPLC from ethyl acetate extraction of Ornithogalum thyrsoides. By means of extensive spectroscopic data, their structures were identified as (23S,24S,25S)-23,24-dihydroxyruscogenin 1-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1?2)-α-L-arabinopyranoside (1), (24S,25S)-3?,24 -dihydroxyspirost-5-en-1?-yl O-?-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1?2)-?-L-arabinopyranoside (2), β-daucosterol (3), β-sitosterol (4), kaempferol-4′-O-β-D-glycopyranoside (5), oroxylin A (6), and wogonin (7). Compounds 1, 5~7 were isolated from this genus for the first time. All compounds were evaluated in vitro for their cytotoxicities, but none of them showed significant cytotoxic activity against five tumor cell lines HCT-8, Bel-7402, BGC-823, A549 and A2780.
