Abstract: To study the chemical components and inhibition of alpha-glucosidase of volatile oil from Atractylodes chinensis and A. chinensis preparata, the volatile oil was extracted by steam distillation and analyzed by GC-MS technique, and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities were assayed in external. The content of volatile oil in A. chinensis decreased after stired with wheat bran, especially, alkenes, benzene, naphthalenes and cyclohexenes, and the content of [2R-(2α,4aα,8aβ)]-decahydro-α,α,4a-trimethyl-8-methylene-2-Naphthalenemethanol and [1,1'-Biphenyl]-4-carboxal dehyde increased. The α-glucosidase inhibitory activities: A. chinensis > A. chinensis preparata > Acarbose (positive control). The results shows that the volatile oil in A. chinensis has activity against α-glucosidase.

Key words: Atractylodes chinensis, A. chinensis preparata, α-glucosidase inhibitory activities
