Abstract:

Ferula plants have a long history and wide applications in both medicinal and culinary fields. These plants are rich in coumarins, sesquiterpenoids, volatile oils, phenylpropanoid derivatives, and sulfur compounds.Modern pharmacological studies have demonstrated that this genus exhibits various pharmacological activities, including anti-tumor,antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,and immunomodulatory effects. It also provides significant benefits to the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and gastrointestinal tract. To ensure the quality control standards of traditional Chinese medicine, the quality of Ferulae Resina is assessed and verified through quality marker (Q-Marker).This approach helps distinguish authentic products and ensures the sustainable use of plant resources. This paper systematically reviews the research progress on the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of Ferula plants.Based on the concept of Q-Marker,it is proposed that ferulic acid, farnesiferol B,farnesiferol C,assafoetidin, and conferone could serve as potential Q-Markers for Ferulae Resina, providing a foundation for the development of a comprehensive and scientific quality control system for this valuable medicinal resource.
