Abstract: Eleven compounds were isolated from the fruiting bodies of Hercium erinaceus by means of column chromatography. They were identified as D-erythritol (1), D-arabinitol (2), 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl -(2S, 4E, 8E, 2′R)-2-N-(2′-hydroxy-pentadecaamide)-9-methyl-4, 8- sphingadienine(3), 3β-hydroxy-ergosta-5, 7, 22-triene (4), 3β-hydroxy-5α, 8α-epidioxyergosta-6, 22-diene (5), stearic acid (6), oleic acid (7), hericenone F (8), hericenone C (9), hericenone E (10) and hericene A (11), respectively. As a result, hericenones are main components in the content and 3 was the first cerebroside isolated from this mushroom.
