Abstract: Six compounds were isolated from 60% EtOH extracts of the leaves of Alchornea trewioides, four of which belong to flavonoid glycosides. These compounds were isolated by chromatographic methods and their structures were identified by physiochemical and spectral method respectively. Their structures were identified as: apigenin-6-C-D-glucopyranoside (1), apigenin-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosy (l→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), apigenin-7-O-β-(2′′-O-α-rhamnopyranosyl) glucuronide (3), luteolin-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), ethyl gallate (5), and β-daucosterol (6). The six compounds were first isolated from this plant, and compounds 1-4 were obtained from Alchornea for the first time.
