Abstract:

To further exploit endophytic fungal resources residing in medicinal plants, this study isolated a strain Aspergillus sydowii XG-157 from the Tibetan medicinal herb Hypecoum leptocarpum Hook.f.et Thoms. In vitro antibacterial activity testing revealed that both the petroleum ether fraction and ethyl acetate fraction of the A. sydowii XG-157 fermentation products exhibited varying degrees of inhibitory activity against a range of pathogens.Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to analyze the fat-soluble components of the bioactive fractions from the fermentation broth of endophytic A. sydowii XG-157 fermentation products, thereby establishing a comprehensive dataset of the fat-soluble antimicrobial metabolites produced by this fungal strain. This dataset includes the ITS sequence of strain A. sydowii XG-157,the antibacterial screening results of the crude extract and successive fractions of endophytic A. sydowii XG-157,25 compounds from petroleum ether fraction and 27 compounds from ethyl acetate fraction, respectively. This dataset provides a solid scientific basis for exploiting H. leptocarpum-associated endophytic fungi, discovering antimicrobial lead compounds, and developing microbial pesticides.
