Research Review on Natural Polyhydroxyl Alkaloids-type Glucosidase Inhibitors

Abstract

Abstract: α-glucosidase inhibitors,of which the structures are similar to oligosaccharides, could competitively inhibit α-glucosidase and prevent disaccharides hydrolyzing into monosaccharides. Therefore，the peak blood sugar concentration after meal was significantly decreased by using the α-glucosidase inhibitors. α-glucosidase inhibitors have therapeutic function on diabetes. In this paper，the mechanisms, original plants, structures, bioactivities, extraction and separation methods of α-glucosidase inhibitors from natural products, as well as the analytical approach of bioactive component DNJ were introduced and summarized.
