Abstract: The microencapsulation of high-purity α-linolenic acid was prepared with the spray drying method using high-purity α-linolenic acid as core material and flaxseed gum as wall material. The acting factors of preparing high-purity α-linolenic acid microcapsule have been investigated in detail according to microencapsulation efficiency and the ratio of oil content. The results showed that the best material compositions for microencapsulation were as follows: core material/wall material(m/m) 3:2, material concentration (mass-volume percentage, core material plus wall materials to mixed solution) 5%, and feeding temperature 20 ℃; the optimal spray drying processing conditions were determined as follows, the air temperature at the inlet was 180 ℃, while at the exit was 80 ℃, the rotating speed of centrifugal atomizer was 21000 r/min, and liquid feed rate was 42.01 mL/min. The content of microencapsulation efficiency was 96.18% and the ratio of oil content was 60.09%.
