Natural Products Research and Development is a professional monthly academic journal approved by the National Press and Publication Administration for public distribution both at home and abroad. As the earliest Chinese journal dedicated to reporting research in its field, it is co-organized by National Science Library(Chengdu), Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chengdu Di'ao Pharmaceutical Company of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Engineering Research Center for Natural Medicines.
The publication aims to report the latest achievements and wide use of natural product research, promote academic exchanges at home and abroad, strengthen the process of scientific research, development and production, and disseminate strategic, forward-looking and innovative scientific and technological achievements, to promote the development of science, technology and economy in China.
The publication is oriented to the frontier of contemporary life science research, with sections such as “Research Papers”, “Research Briefs”, “Development Research”, “Data Research” and “Review”. The publication mainly publishes the innovative achievements in the research and development of bioactive natural products and medicinal animals and plants, especially the bioactivity, action mechanism, new extraction and separation methods of natural products, rapid separation and analysis of complex mixtures, structural transformation, biological synthesis and biotransformation, new synthetic methods, structure-activity relationship research and new activity evaluation methods of natural products, and the comprehensive utilization of natural products, which cover the fields of natural pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacy and molecular biology.
Since its establishment in 1989, Natural Products Research and Development has been indexed and included by numerous authoritative databases, including: Chemical Abstracts (CA), EBSCO, Chinese Biological Abstracts, Chinese Pharmaceutical Abstracts, China Chemical Abstracts, China Agriculture and Forestry Database, CABI, Natural Products Updates (NPU), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Database, Scopus, DOAJ, Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chinese Core Journals, China Science and Technology Paper and Citation Database (CSTPCD), Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Evaluation Database (CAJCED),Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE A+), and World Journal Clout Index (WJCI).
In 2023, Natural Product Research and Development was included in the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report (a new journal evaluation system jointly established by six organizations, including Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, Chinese Academic Journals - CD (CAJ-CD), etc.), marking the high recognition of the international influence among Chinese journals by the domestic academic and journal community. The journal will continue to adhere to the guiding ideology of equal emphasis on academic quality and international impact, introduce advanced international management systems and operational norms, apply forward-looking journal concepts, expand the development space, and develop steadily and sustainably in a healthy international academic exchange environment.
