Abstract: Twelve known compounds were isolated from the roots of Panax japonicus. On the basis of MS and NMR analysis, these compounds were determined as chikusetsusaponin Ⅳa (1), araloside A (2), chikusetsusaponinⅠb (3), chikuset-susaponinⅤ (4), uracil (5), thymine (6), uridine (7), guanosine (8), thymidine (9), adenosine (10), inosine (11), cytidine (12), among which eight compounds (5-12) were obtained from this plant for the first time.
