Abstract:

Neurological disorders are regarded as a kind of disease endangering human health seriously, which are characterized by complex pathogenesis and the irreversible neurological damage. It’s still one of the diseases that are very difficult to overcome.Rencently, the research and development of novel drugs-derived from natural products for the treatment of neurological disorders has been attracted great attention by scholars at home and abroad.Tetracyclic triterpenes are important secondary metabolites of plants that are widely distributed in nature with strong bioactivities. In this paper,thirty-seven tetracytriterpenes with neuropharmacological activities were summarized, including damarane, lanolane and cycloaltonane. The structure types, plant sources, neuropharmacological activities and structure-activity relationships of them are reviewed as well in detail based on literature reports in the past five years. This article aims to provide scientific references for the new drug discovery and drug design of tetracyclic triterpenoids.
