Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of apigenin(AP) on marked enzymes and oxidation-reduction balance in testis of male rats and to explore the mechanism.48 male SD rats were randomly distributed into 4 groups equally and were intragastrically administered with NS 10 mL/kg·bw and AP 234, 468, 936 mg/kg·bw for 35 days respectively. The activities of SOD,GSH-Px,CAT, T-AOC, ACP, AKP, LDH, SDH, NOS, Na+K+ATP,Ca2+Mg2+ATP and the contents of MDA,GSH in testis were determined. The result showed that the activities of ACP,AKP,LDH and the content of GSH decreased significantly. The activity of Ca2+Mg2+ATP increased significantly. The ratio of SOD/(GSH-Px+CAT) decreased significantly in AP 234 mg/kg group and increased significantly in AP 468,936 mg/kg group. The activity of T-AOC increased significantly in AP 234,468 mg/kg groups and decreased in AP 936 mg/kg group. The result indicated that AP showed antioxidant effect in the 234,468 mg/kg doses but promoted oxidation in the 936 mg/kg dose.Besides, the testicular marked enzymes was decreased in 234,468,936 mg/kg of AP.
