Abstract: GC-MS was applied to analyze the constituents of volatile oil extracted from the body, tail and head of angelica originated from Min county in Gansu by steam distillation.Content of the constituents in volatile oil extracted from different parts of angelica varied under the same determination conditions. There were more ligustilide in angelica body, tail and head, while there were also some other effective constituents of which the types and content were different. The results suggested that content of constituents of volatile oils extracted from different medicinal parts of angelica varied, and the efficacious material basis were different. Thus, to explore the variation of constituents of volatile oil from different parts of angelica could provide scientifical refernces for angelica processing and clinical application.
