Analysis on Saikosaponin of Sixteen Bupleurum chinense from Shanxi

Abstract: Saikosaponins a and d were used as the chemical reference substance to establish HPLC and visible-spectrophotometry methods for determination of total contents of saikosaponin in sixteen kinds of Bupleurum chinense from thirteen production areas in Shanxi province. The results showed that the contents of saikosaponins a and d and the total saikosaponin in B. chinense were 0.038%~0.369%, 0.036%~0.681%, and 0.354%~3.945%, respectively. In addition, the contents of saikosaponin a in 12 species, saikosaponin d in 10 species, and the total saikosaponin in 13 species were more than 0.1%, 0.2% and 1.0%, respectively.
