Abstract: To investigate the chemical compositions of Sabina gaussenii and evaluate their antitumor cytotoxicities, nine known compounds, deoxypodophyllotoxin (1),podophyllotoxin (2),acetyl epipodophyllotoxin (3),3′-O-demethylyatein (4),triptonoterpene (5),podorhizol acetate (6),isomassonianoside (7),ambrosanosanoli-10,11-diol (8) and pinobanksin (9) were isolated from Sabina gaussenii.Their structures were mainly elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectroscopic techniques.Compounds 1-9 were isolated from this species for the first time.Compounds 1-4 and 6 showed cytotoxicities against tumor cell lines, and compounds 1,2 and 3 exhibited strong cytotoxicities towards human cervical carcinoma cell lines HeLa and human gastric cancer cell lines BGC-823.
