Effects of Total Flavonoids of Tartary Buckwheat on the Expression of APP and GSK-3β of Hippocampus in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Rats

Abstract: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus can be expected to result in such diabetic encephalopathy characterized by tau hyperphosphorylation.It can cause the over expression of β-amyloid protein (Aβ) derived from numerously decomposed β-amyloid precursor protein (APP).In addition it can cause the neuronal inflammatory responses.Total Flavonoids of Tartary Buckwheat were a group of tartar buckwheat extract that reduces blood sugar and improves glucose tolerance.We detected the expression of GSK-3β mRNA and APP in hippocampus of Wistar rats modeled by STZ by the methods of RT-PCR and Western Blot.To observe the effects of Total Flavonoids of Tartary Buckwheat on Pathological Metabolites of Hippocampus in Type 2 Diabetic Rats.The results showed that it significantly inhibited the expression of both materials (P<0.05).The study shows that total flavonoids of tartar buckwheat can reduce the pathological products in the hippocampus of rats with Diabetic Mellitus,prevent and treat diabetic encephalopathy.
