Abstract:

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is degenerative disease of the nerve system, often accompanied by symptoms such as mood disorder, living and learning ability reduction, and others. As such symptoms are irreversibly worsening, this disease has become a global public health problem that seriously threatens the health of the elderly.Based on the author’s understanding that the tau protein hyperphosphorylation is a key factor leading to AD and that the tau protein phosphatase level and the tau protein phosphorylation may be regulated in multiple ways by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of AD,as proven by finding already made, this article is an attempt to present new ideas and approaches in TCM pharmacy and TCM treatment of AD,in the light of tau protein kinase regulation, phosphatase regulation and kinase and phosphatase dual regulation.

Key words: Alzheimer's disease, traditional Chinese medicine, kinase, phosphatase, tau protein, hyperphosphorylation
