Abstract: In the present study, the effect of Talinum crassifolium Extract on antioxidation in aged mice induced by D-galactose was investigated.Fifty male Kunming mice were randomly divided into five groups, namely control group, model group, and T.crassifolium low, medium and high-dose groups.Except the control group, all other groups were given with 125 mg/kg of D-galactose by subcutaneous injection at neck nape for 42 d.At the same time, mice in the three sample groups were gavaged with 5,10 and 15 mg/kg of T.crassifolium extract;and mice in control group and model group were gavaged with the same volume of normal saline. The activities of Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD),Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX),and the content of Maleic Dialdehyde (MDA) in mice were then determined. The resulted showed that the levels of GSH-PX in blood serum and SOD in liver, heart of the model group were significantly lower than these of normal control group (P<0.01).The activities of MDA in liver and heart of the model group significantly increased compared with these of normal control group (P<0.01).The levels of GSH-PX in blood serum and SOD in liver, heart of T.crassifolium low, medium and high-dose groups were significantly higher than these of model groups (P<0.01).The levels of MDA in liver and heart of T.crassifolium medium and high doses groups were significantly lower than these of model groups (P<0.01).The of activity of MDA in liver of T.crassifolium low dose group was significantly lower than that of normal control group (P<0.01).Based on these results,it was concluded that T.crassifolium extract had antiaging effect on D-galactose induced aging mice.
