Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the content and change of nutrients in Magnolia officinalis leaves in different growing periods and to analyze the feasibility of M.officinalis leaves as feed or feed additives.Using the conventional analysis methods, the content of water, crude fiber, crude fat, soluble sugar, reducing sugar, vitamin C,protein, amino acids and mineral elements of the leaves, collected from April to September in 2015,were determined. The results showed that the content of water, crude fiber, crude fat and vitamin C in M.officinalis  leaves was 41.6%-82.5%,205%-24.1%,3.9%-5.9% and 22.8-91.0 μg/g respectively, and the soluble sugar content ranged from 22.1 to 61.9 mg/g and the reducing sugar content was 7.5%-14.0%.The mineral elements such as Ca,Mg,Mn,Fe,Zn,Cu and 17 kinds of amino acid were identified in M.officinalis leaves.The protein content in M.officinalis  leaves was limited, from 0.2% to 6.4%.To be taken together, the nutrients in M.officinalis leaves were changed significantly with the growing period.M.officinalis leaves with high crud fiber can be used as feedstuff of ruminant animal including cattle and sheep or as feed additives according to the nutritional needs of animals. On the whole, the leaves collected in September were better than those from other months. 
