Abstract: Eleven compounds were isolated and purified from Selaginella involven Spring by polyamide, macroporous resin and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, and their structures were elucidated as aurantiamide (1), aurantiamide acetate (2), N-benzoyl-L-phenylalaninol (3), neoechinulin A (4 ), 5,7-dihydroxy Chromone (5), 3-(3-hydroxy-phenyl) propionic acid (6), 3-(3-hydroxy-phenyl)methyl propionate (7), cinnamic acid (8), (1H-indol-3-yl)oxoacetamide (9), 1H-Indole-3-carboxaldehyde (10), 1H-indole-3-carboxylicacid (11) by chemical and modern spectroscopic methods. The eleven compounds were isolated from genus Selaginella for the first time. The protective effects of compounds 1-4 on anoxic/reoxygenation-induced PC-12 cell damage were evaluated by Hoechst Staining method. The four compounds showed strong antioxidant effect on the PC-12 cell damage induced by anoxic/reoxygenation,and had a dose dependent effect.Compounds 1-4 showed moderate protective effects on the PC-12 cell damage induced by anoxic/ reoxygenation.
