Lipid-lowering and Anti-obesity Effects of Foods and Their Chemical Compositions-A Review

Abstract: Obesity is a global epidemic issue,prevention and treatment of obesity has becoming important social and medical problems.There are a variety of weight loss drugs in current market,which are mainly made by synthetic drugs.It has much more side effects.It is a key practical value to search foods and their chemical components with anti-obesity effects compare with synthetic drugs.The article reviewed the lipid-lowering and anti-obesity effects of foods and their chemical compositions,such as grains,food legumes,vegetables and fruits,as well as medicine foods,by in vitro pancreatic lipase activity assay,animal experiments,and clinical experiments.The results provided strong theoretical basis for further investigating the anti-obesity mechanisms and developing the functional foods for prevention and treatment of anti-obesity.
