Phenolic Compounds in Peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] and their Bioactivities

Abstract: Peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] is rich in phenolic compounds.So far,more than 70 phenolic compounds have been identified in peach,including hydroxycinnamic acids,flavanols,flavonols and their glycosides,anthocyanins,hydroxybenzoic acids,and flavanones, etc.The phenolic-rich peach extracts showed various bioactivities such as antioxidant,anti-tumor,anti-aging,attenuating chemotherapy-induced hepatotoxicity,anti-microbial,anti-inflammatory,anti-diabetes effect, etc.In this paper,compositions,distribution and bioactivities of phenolic compounds in peach are reviewed.
